Where the sector stands today.
Food and farming businesses operate with thinner margins and more uncertainty than almost any other sector. Weather is less predictable, input costs swing sharply, and labour is hard to find at harvest. Buyers and regulators want proof of where food came from, how it was grown and what it cost the land and water around it. At the same time, a wave of sensors, satellite imagery, farm management software and AI advisory tools is competing for growers' attention, and much of it goes unused after the first season. Leaders of producer organisations, processors and agritech companies are deciding which data is worth collecting, how to share it fairly along the chain, and which digital products farmers will really adopt. Sustainability here is not a reporting exercise. Soil health, water and yield are the same conversation.
Adoption in agriculture is earned field by field. We begin with the growers, agronomists, procurement teams and plant managers whose routines any new tool has to fit, and we design around patchy connectivity, seasonal peaks and limited time. Next we clarify the operating model: who owns farm data, who benefits from it, and how advice reaches the person making the decision. Then we tidy the processes between farm gate, processor and buyer, build the data foundations for traceability, and apply AI where it supports judgement on crops, quality or demand.
We have learned to be wary of agritech products designed in a city office. The ones that last are built with growers, work offline, and save time in the first week. If a farmer has to enter the same information twice, or cannot see what they get back for sharing their data, the app is forgotten by the next planting. Trust and convenience decide adoption long before the quality of the algorithm does.

Senior technology leadership for agritech ventures that cannot yet justify a full-time hire
Soil, water and yield measures built into operations because they are the business
Services for Agritech.
Practical, outcome-focused engagements shaped around your sector's realities.
Digital Product & MVP Advisory for agritech ventures
Shaping, testing and launching a first product with real growers, so founders learn what farmers will adopt before spending the whole raise.

Deciding which field, quality and provenance data to collect, who owns it, and how it is shared in a trusted way along the chain.
Intelligent Document Processing for certificates, grower records and trade paperwork
Extracting and checking data from certifications, delivery notes, lab results and export documents, reducing manual keying during the busiest weeks of the season.
Fractional CTO/CIO for growing food and agri businesses
Part-time senior technology leadership to set architecture, manage vendors and build the team, sized for a business that is scaling carefully.
